Stop at the imaginary STOP SIGN facing the restaurant “The Palms”. Turn LEFT on what is known as the FREE ROAD.

The first town you come to is called Primo Tapia (or Cantamar) (don’t be discouraged…they’re still working on it!)

On your right is a pizza shop called PIZZA y Pollo and a Chinese take-out called Sin Lee.

Continuing on the FREE road, you will pass the RED CROSS on your left. Tthe road curves around for about 1/2 mile after the RED CROSS. The sand dunes come up next on your right. When you see Kilometer 50, turn RIGHT into the ARCHWAY ENTRANCE that says Mision Viejo.

You want to enter into the LEFT SIDE which brings you into Mision Viejo SOUTH. Got to end of street.  (BEWARE OF DRAINAGE DIP…GO SLOW!)

Puerto Nuevo

LobsterIt has been more than fifty years since this recipe’s tradition started to develop. It was during the fifties when due to the initiative of a fishermen group, it attracted the tourists for fishing trips departing from the small village. Upon returning from fishing, the wives cordially invited the visitors to take a seat and enjoy the most common dish among the fishermen of that zone: abundant and delicious lobster from this small village coast, served according to local custom, with beans, rice and flour tortillas. “Puerto Nuevo” lobster became more popular within a short period of time, in such way that new tourists arrive in a daily basis with the only purpose of tasting the famous and exquisite the “Puerto Nuevo” Style Lobster.

Currently, “Puerto Nuevo” is a restaurant-oriented community, with more than 30 establishments, located at 50 km [30 mi.] south of the city of Tijuana,  from highway No. 1 (Transpeninsular) or by the scenic road to Ensenada , exiting where the signal indicates the village, at a distance of 45 minutes approximately.
